Joel Podolny is a vice president at Apple and currently holds the position of dean of Apple University. Prior to joining Apple in 2008, Podolny spent three years at the Yale School of Management as dean and professor of management. Podolny was a professor of sociology, business administration, leadership and management at the Harvard Business School and the Harvard University Faculty of Arts and Sciences from 2002 to 2005. He also held several faculty positions at the Stanford Graduate School of Business from 1991 to 2002. In addition to authoring or co-authoring numerous articles, Podolny wrote the book Status Signals: A Sociological Study of Market Competition (2008) and co-wrote the textbook Strategic Management (2001). Podolny received his Ph.D. in 1991, his A.M. in 1989, and an A.B. magna cum laude in 1986 from Harvard University.
